Reasons To Replace Your Showerhead

Herbert Chambers

Are you happy with the way your showerhead works? Or, are you just so used to it that you do not even notice the problems it has? Replacing a showerhead is not something people think to do often, yet it is an important thing to do on occasion when you own a house. Here are some of the reasons you should replace your showerhead from time to time.

Water does not spray straight

If you notice that water is spraying out of your showerhead in every single direction possible and that half of the water is not even landing on your body, it is probably time for a new showerhead. Water that sprays out of a showerhead like this often does so because the showerhead is clogged. While you may be able to clean it out and help it work better, it will likely end up spraying like this after just a few weeks or months again.

Water pressure is low

A second good reason to replace your showerhead is if your water pressure is really low. Your low water pressure could be due to a clogged showerhead, or it could be due to the way your showerhead works. Newer showerheads are designed in a way to improve water pressure when in use but to require less water. In other words, new showerheads are more efficient with the amount of water they allow through, yet they have the ability to create more water pressure.

You cannot adjust your showerhead

Another good reason to replace your showerhead right now is if you are tired on not being able to adjust it. If your showerhead is stationary, or if it no longer turns and moves in a way that allows you to adjust it, now might be a good time to replace it. You can choose from so many different types of showerheads today, and some are even removable. The removable ones allow you to take the showerhead from the stand it is in and use it with your hand. Another good feature you can find today is adjustable showerheads, and these allow you to change the way water comes out of the devices.

Replacing a showerhead is not difficult, and you can complete the job by removing the old showerhead with a wrench. After doing this, you should be able to screw a new showerhead on. If you need help, you can hire residential plumbing services to do the job for you.

Hidden Plumbing Problems: What To Look For

When I decided to replace the plumbing fixtures in my house with new ones, the whole process revealed some heavily damaged pipes. I had missed all of the more subtle signs of issues, and only realized it when I had to work on the pipes to get the new fixtures installed. I created this site to help others understand what to watch for and what types of things to look at before they start working. Spotting problems ahead of time will make it easier to get the project done in one sitting. I hope that the information here helps others avoid the emergency situation and unexpected expenses that I found myself facing.
